Finally, in December 2009, producer Graham King predicted that Dark Shadows would begin shooting with Depp and Burton around September or October of 2010. In July 2010, Seth Grahame-Smith, who had written novels that put a macabre twist on literary classics (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and historical figures (Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter), was hired to write a new draft of Dark Shadows.
